In Division 1 this year there were 18 centuries, with the highest individual score being Matt Heelan's 171 for Northwood against West Island on 16th May. Next best was Mark Mitchell's 144 not out for Brading against Ryde Cavaliers on the 25th July. St Helens Lee Brown topped the Division 1 leading run scorer and also topped the batting averages with 693 runs from 10 completed innings to have an average of 69.30, closely followed by Newport's Stuart Gurney with 402 runs from 6 completed innings for an average of 67.00. There were also 53 scores of 50 or more, the best being Henry Bartlett's 98 not out against Newport on 23rd May, Mark Ringer 96 not out against St Helens on the same date and Darren Ringer 96 not out against Shanklin on 27th June. There were 34 instances where a bowler took 4 wickets or more in an innings with 5 bowlers taking 6 wickets. The best figures, being those of Northwood's Steve Allwood who took 6 for 8 against Ryde Cavaliers on 27th June. Steve also topped the bowling averages with 27 wickets conceding 214 runs at an average of 7.93. Second was Northwood colleague Simon Goldsmith with an average of 9.83 taking 24 wickets for 236 runs In Division 2 there were 17 centuries, with the highest individual score being John Turner’s 171 for Godshill against Whitecroft on 12th September. Next best was S Homes 139 for Ventnor III against Whitecroft on the 6th June. There were also 78 scores of 50 or more, the best being Joe Cotton’s 96 against Arreton on 29th August Ventnor III’s Mark Price topped the Division 2 batting averages with 529 runs from 5 completed innings and 3 not outs to have an average of 105.80. Second was Ventnor team mate Andy White with 196 runs from 3 completed innings and 2 not outs for an average of 65.33 closely followed by Joe Cotton to give Ventnor III’s the first three in the batting averages. Cotton scored 386 runs from 6 completed innings and 3 not outs to have an average of 64.33. Godshill John Turner was the leading run scorer with 627 runs. There were 26 instances where a bowler took 4 wickets or more in an innings with 7 bowlers taking 5 wickets or more. The best figures, being those of Northwood IIs Steve Lewis who took 6 for 6 against Newport IIs on 23rd May. Scott Rice of Cowes Centurions topped the bowling averages with 14 wickets conceding 160 runs at an average of 11.43. Second was his Cowes Centurions colleague Jason Heap with an average of 11.60 taking 10 wickets for 116 runs. The leading wicket taker in Division 2 was Steve Lewis with 21. |
