IWCB U13s go close in ECB County Cup

A fantastic all round team performance saw the IWCB U13 team lose out by just 2 wickets to Oxfordshire in a low scoring game on a difficult wicket. Scores of 16 for Jordan Galsworthy, 14 for Julion Jayerajah and 11 for Matthew Dominguez drove the side onto 88 for 6 off 40 overs with the help of 31 extras. The Island side pressed well in the field and a first over wicket maiden from Barney Tyler (1 for 11)was followed by further fine bowling from Gary Scott-Roberts with 2 for 17, Billy Clarke 2 for 17, Julion Jayerajah 1 for 21 and Toby Corbin 1 for 10. Extras were kept to 12 but the visitors reached their target with the loss of 8 wickets and a huge sigh of relief. The Island team's attitude in the field was first class and given the fact that half the team are from the U12 age group this was a performance to be proud of. |
