Joy for Ryde and Ventnor

Ventnor clinched the Southern Electric Premier League, Division 2 championship for a fifth successive time when they beat overnight leaders Rowledge by 53 runs at Steephill, while at Hardinshute, Ryde who despite a shaky start, made 191-8 over title challengers Midhurst then bowled the visitors out for 178. The win means Ryde move up to the Hampshire Cricket League, County Division 1, one league below the Southern Electric Premier League.
