RSS feeds

There are two RSS feeds on this web site to let you know what is going on with the Isle of Wight Cricket Board. The first has fixtures, results and news and can be found at http://www.isleofwightcricketboard.co.uk/rss/scores.xml The second just has results with links through to the scorecards on this site - http://www.isleofwightcricketboard.co.uk/rss/justscores.xml There are many ways you can make use of these feeds, the simplest is just to subscribe to them using an up to date web browser or email program such as Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 2 or Thunderbird 2. However the real power of RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is when you start to add the feeds to other web pages or portals. iGoogle - http://www.google.co.uk/ig?hl=en - allows people with (free) Google accounts to place feeds on their page and display the newest information from those feeds. You can add feeds from all over the internet and mix them up - thus placing the feed from the IW Cricket Board next to information from BBC weather, cricinfo, the County Press or wherever you want. Add the feeds "by URL" rather than trying to search for them. Another use for RSS feeds to putting them on your own web page as has been done on http://www.wight-business.co.uk/isle_of_wight_cricket_board.html . If you need any details of how to add either feed to your web site please contact Island Webservices on www.islandwebservices.co.uk or 01983 721264. |
