10 Jun 2008 to 30 Jun 2008
Ryde Cavaliers triumph in Under 15 Cup Final Ryde Cavaliers Under 15 side pulled off a magnificent 9 wicket win over the favourites Ventnor Under 15’s in the final of the Under 15 Cup at Ryde Cricket Ground on Tuesday.

Batting first Ventnor made an impressive start with Jacob George and Adam Hose putting together a partnership of 40 for the first wicket. George was bowled by a wonderful ball from J Galdsworthy for 25, and Hose quickly followed for 18 also being bowled by Galdsworthy. James Cheek scored a useful 11 but is was Arthur Halsey’s 44 not which contained 6 fours and a six that set Cavaliers a target of 127 in their 20 overs. Galdsworthy ended with bowling figures 0f 2 for 17 from his 4 overs.

Ryde Cavaliers got off to a steady start but were behind the required run rate at 8 overs as only 34 runs had been scored, however Jamie Icke and Andy Louden then began to dominate the Ventnor bowling as they steadily increased the run rate. When Louden was out for 48 they had scored 119 for the first wicket and the winning runs came with 3 balls to spare. Icke finished 49 not out with Younie not out 8.

A great win for Ryde Cavaliers who will now represent the Island in the National Under 15 Cup where they have been drawn away to the winners of the Wiltshire Under 15 competition.
