Sucsess for IW U15 Cricket Team

On the hottest day of the year the IWCB U15 team played Oxfordshire in the ECB County Cup. The Island won the toss and put Oxford in to bat first. G Cooper and M Millwood opened the bowling and restricted the opening partnership to 15 runs off the first 11 overs. K Thompson came on to bowl his spell of 9 overs in the 20th over to pick up 4 wickets, supported by some brilliant catching from B Tyler in slip and outfield by O Thompson. A very good fielding performance all round with Oxford finishing on 197 all out in the 43rd over. After tea with England playing in the world cup, Oliver Moseley and Billy Clarke went out to bat to produce an opening parnership of 138 with B Clarke being bowled for 95. A fantastic innings with 10 fours and a no ball 6 gave Billy his highest score for the season so far. Oliver Moseley supported him throughout with some high class defence and after 2 hr 52 min of batting was finally out for 34. After a little lul in the scoring G Cooper came in to hit the winning runs to finish on 21 n.o. A fantastic win with 6 wickets remaining saw the U15 Island side reach their first win of the season. |
