Under 11039s Return To Winning Ways

Following their two disappointing defeats the week before, the Island Under 11's returned to winning ways on a drizzly day at Porchfield against the New Forest. New Forest chose to bat first and got off to a flying start, racing to 20-0 in the first two overs. At the 10 over stage New Forest were 51-1 and looking in control. They then lost six wickets for just 10 runs as man of the match George Willis ripped through them with his very accurate bowling. One of Willis's victims was Hampshire batsman James Edmonds who was clean bowled for 11. Willis went on to record figures of 4-2, while Ben Baker 2-10 and Ross Whyte 2-30 also chipped in to help bowl the New Forest out for just 89. The drizzle continued for virtually all of the Island's innings but Willis kept his head down and scored a very useful 18 before James Attrill 17 and captain Ross Whyte 23 not out, finished the game off with 17 overs to spare. A resounding 7 wicket victory for the Island.
