Caulkheads tame The Bears

After two warm up games - v St Helens and Shanklin, the new, younger Caulkheads side started their new Championship season against Warwickshire at Westhill.
Tight bowling by The Bears opening pair Liam Brothwood (4 for 16) and James Phelan (2 for 18) soon had the Islanders deep in trouble at 40 for 5. But, this bought together the two veterans David Lloyd and Graham Sprack. Their partnership of 101 for the 6th wicket helped the team to maximum batting points. James Jowlett held the catches to dismiss both of these.
Unfortunately, for the 1st time in a while, the tail failed to wag, as the last 4 wickets fell for just 1 run.
In reply, Warwickshire quickly raced to 69 for 3, wtih some lusty blows from their top order, and a superb display of cover driving by Sam Wyles. However, once Sprack and Wayne Dunne had compbined to remove the dangerous Brothwood, and Dunne trapped Wyles LBW, the Bears were unable to get another foothold in the game, their last 7 wickets falling for just 43 runs. This in spite of stubborn resistance by Khushali Patel and Rory Phelan in the Bears late order batsmen.
