Island Club's Supporting Womens & Girls Cricket
The Isle of Wight Cricket Board is committed to making cricket a sport with equal opportunities for both female and male cricketers of all ages and all abilities. Whether you are starting your cricket journey as an All Star, wanting to join a club with your friends to play softball or are an established hardball cricketer with aspirations to play for your country, the IWCB is working hard to make sure that there is cricket for you to play. We are working hard to increase girl’s engagement of the game, grow representation and improve the opportunities for girls and women on the island across all aspects of the game.
There are several opportunities this summer for girls to get involved at clubs on the island.
Arreton, Ventnor, Ryde and Cowes Cricket Clubs are all keen to develop their girls’ sections.
For Arreton, please contact Tina Cooper, firstname.lastname@example.org
The U11’s team train Sundays from 9.30 - 10.30pm
For Ventnor, please contact Duncan Mills on email@example.com. The under 13’s train Saturday mornings at 9.30am. Under 12’s train 6.00 - 8.30pm on Tuesdays evenings.
For Ryde, please contact Andy Day on firstname.lastname@example.org. Girls are training on Fridays from 6.00 - 7.30pm.
For Cowes, please contact Ash Goldsmith on email@example.com. They train Fridays. Softball is from 5.00 - 5.45pm and hardball is from 6.00 - 7.00pm.
For girls starting out on their cricket journey there are girl specific All Star and Dynamo sessions running this summer on the island. All stars are aimed at the 5-8 year olds, Dynamo’s are for 8-11 year olds. To find your local centre please go to www.allstarscricket.co.uk or www.dynamoscricket.co.uk and put in your post code to find all the details of the Island programmes.
We are also working on running girls only softball and hardball festivals this summer. These festivals are an ideal way to put into practice all the skills your team or individual have been learning during their training sessions, more details to follow soon.
