In Division 2 of the Indoor Cricket League, it is Prison Officers and Ryde School who are setting the early pace as both recorded a second consecutive win last Sunday.

49 not out from Prison Officer’s Mark Allen and 21 from Steve Sprake helped their side post 141-4 against Health Associates. The Associates’ Dave Pratt (28 not out) and Rohan (31) pushed hard but were eventually held to 117-4 giving the Officers victory by 24 runs.

Dan Cox bowled the remarkable figures of 3-5 as his Ryde School side emphatically beat Island Bakeries. Batting first, the Bakers were reduced to 59 all out, a total passed by Ryde School in just 6 overs for the loss of 3 wickets.

Of the scheduled 3 games in Division 1, only one match took place following walk over wins for Brading and Shanklin. Brading took the points after Newport were unable to raise a side for a second consecutive week and Ventnor also conceded their match to Shanklin.

As a result it is Ryde who appear to be team to beat in Division 1. Following their Indoor Cup success, Ryde started their league campaign with a hard fought 2 wicket win against EPP. Hampered by 3 run outs and an injury to Ben Attrill, EPP could only only set a target of 110 (John Buckman 25, Zach Wells 24) which proved not enough as Ryde passed this total for the loss of 4 wickets. Mark Oatley continued his fine batting form with 22.
