A strong Newport CC U12s won the indoor cup last Friday at Rew Valley Sports Centre against last years holders Ryde Cavaliers.

Newport batted first and started very slowly due to a lack of running between the wickets and some good bowling from the Cavs open bowlers Jack Sanderson and Dan White.

Openers Cameron Beal and Rohan Sussetti got into their stride and both retired with 26 and 25 respectively.

Joe Hayden keep the scoreboard ticking over at a great rate and pushed the score on with some nice shots and quick running, eventually being run out looking for one to many quick runs for 21.

The Newport score kept increasing later on in the innings as
Ryde Cavs bowlers struggled to find their direction at a crucial time in the game and Newport set a target of 127 for Ryde Cavs to win the cup for the fifth time in a row.

Cavaliers cause was not help as both openers where bowled by outstanding bowler Joe Shaw for a duck and 1.

Tom Millward was only one of two Ryde Cavaliers batters to get into double figures scoring 18 but his innings was ended by Cameron Beal. This really brought an end to the game as wickets fell quickly there afterwards and Newport won the cup for the first time by 61 runs.

It tops of a good indoor season for Newport as they ended up joint winners of the league with Ventnor CC U12s.
